Synopsis:
The voyage of Adrian, son of Ibem, tells the story of a wrongful
coming of age. At a tender age he suffers the loss of innocence.
Lost in a mirage of “life shaped as a sea voyage upon majestic and
malevolent waves,” the sailor Adrian recalls events that mold his
existence. Beginning with young Adrian in the arms of Her, a
maid that raped him at the age of four, he remembers the event
darkly as a large mahogany door standing upon its hinges.
Sea Lavender opens a window that reveals the warped
manifestations of cultism, violence, death, crime, and corruption
at the highest levels of society. Defining one man’s life-- a man
who could be your neighbor, a man you might find gentle
extending a hand of help, a man you might fall in love with--Sea
Lavender foreshadows a highly complicated, emotional and
provocative journey into the darkest night of human existence.
Penned by the hand of a critically acclaimed storyteller, no
matter how cynical, jaded or thick-skinned one might be, Sea
Lavender will touch the reader’s very soul

Chika Victor Onyenezi is an editor at Authorme.com and a writer with
great passion. He writes of the history his homeland and his people
because he feels that is more important than writing about modern day
"hoods. "I think a writer should be free to choose his story and not be
criticized for the stories he makes." Chika's new novel "Sea Lavender"
reads more like truth than fiction. ****__J0hn E. Cashwell.
This is the second novel from Nigerian author Chika Victor Onyenezi. My
knowledge of Nigeria as a country is fairly limited. I know that the
country has its share of troubles and political corruption.
Adrian has a troubled start in life with perhaps little hope. He manages to
educate himself to go to University. University life is not plain sailing, it is
a political place and there are many cults that are trying to make their
mark. Adrian embarks on a journey during his student days which takes
him further than, I believe, even he thought he would go. By that, I mean
the choices he makes and the path that he inevitably chooses to follow.
Each chapter is introduced with a passage referring to sailing and the sea --
this is a reference to the life he leads as a cult member. The cult
references itself to Vikings who worship the Norse god Odin.
This book was quite different to my usual reading material and I found it
quite interesting, to learn a little about Nigeria. It made a pleasant change
to read something new. ****__Jane Hanbury.
Chika Victor Onyenezi was born in
the idyllic city of Owerri, December
1986. He grew up in Amakohia a
little village with a cool, pure stream
running through it northward into
the West.
His literary career began very early
as a child poet. Later he tried the
short stories genre and penned
Whiteman’s Blood, which has been
anthologized and critically
acclaimed. It achieved “second
runners-up status” in a short story
competition sponsored by
Spiderthief Publishing. It was then
published in an anthology, Funeral
Pants and other Stories
His novels "Locust Invasion" and
"Sea Lavender" have been criticized
for their provocative content. His
writing is part of his life for which he
offers no apology. His books clearly
reveal that part of the world from
which he rises. He sees himself as a
craftsman, storyteller, and activist.
He is currently studying at European
Peace University for a master’s
degree in Peace and Conflict
Resolution.
